Dr Jacobsen was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and has a wife and 2 adult children. He received his Bachelors of Science in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia before going to McGill University for his Medical Degree. He did a rotating internship after medical school before returning to the Lower Mainland to practice.
Dr Jacobsen has been practicing family medicine since 1993 and opened his first medical office in Richmond in 1994, as well he did emergency medicine for three years out of Langley Memorial Hospital. He later trained in cosmetic medicine and still does this along with family medicine.
Dr Jacobsen also was the chief examiner for the Medical Council of Canada's national licensing exam for 5 years.
Extra-Curicular Activities
Dr Jacobsen enjoys physical activity being a Canadian Record holder in the long jump, Triple Jump and hurdles for his age class when he was in high school. He also played high level competitive soccer in high school before concentrating on track and field. Although injuries impeded his goal of competing in the Olympics, he has continued to remain very active physically. He enjoys skiing, snowboarding, both classic and skate-skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking and biking, both road and gravel.
Dr Jacobsen enjoys travel and especially travel that includes treks. He has done several treks with his family including The Salenky in Peru, the O route in Patagonia and the Tour de Mount Blanc this last summer.
Most recently, he has been learning the guitar and French.
